Surprisingly, often even financial professionals do not know there are two "types" of financial plans—simple plans which are referred to as "goal based" and the more complicated type of plan which is referred to as "cash flow based". "Goal based" plans are usually shown in situations when someone is trying to sell something to you. I use the more complicated "cash flow based" plan which is used when analyzing a situation to determine what is best for the client.
